Jacob, Jacob, Sierra, and Rylie's Backstory, Season 2

Caroline is Jacob's adoptive sister. They get along very well.

Connor[]

At first, Jacob and Connor didn't get along because Connor insulted Levi. This led to Connor pushing both Jacob and Sierra during gym class. After Jacob and Sierra told Mrs. Groves-Edwards about this, Connor was kicked out of District Choir[1].

As of the Stories of the Sophomores miniseries, however, the relationship between Connor and Jacob has improved. Connor helped to look for Jacob when he went missing. He became very worried when Jacob hadn't been found[2].

In the eleventh season, the improved relationship between Jacob and Connor was showed very heavily. When Jacob was offered a job as a pit reporter for Battlebots in America, Connor told Jacob that he should go to America and film Battlebots if he wanted to[3].

Later, when Sierra and Kira were sick, Connor and Jacob worked together to try and complete all of Kira and Sierra's jobs as well as their own[4].

David[]

If our arguing or severe lack of conversation is making work difficult for you, Jacob, then from this point on, I vow that I... er... we will not argue for a second for the rest of the day!

David to Jacob, Kids and Quarrels, Season 2

Jacob and David are good friends. Out of all the quadruplets, Jacob gets along with David the best. When his constant bickering with his siblings was upsetting Jacob, David agreed to stop quarreling for the rest of the day[5]. Later, Richard Hatt sent David to the Sodor Railway Museum, where he and Jacob got to work together once again. Both enjoyed the time working together[6]. Later, David and his siblings attended Jacob, Sierra, and Kira's graduation party[7].

Duck[]

You two should be ashamed of yourselves! To be so inconsiderate as to say those things. It’s disgraceful!

Thomas, Percy, Rosie, Duck, Philip and all the other little engines taught me that little engines can do big things

Duck is one of Jacob's favorite engines, and Jacob is one of Duck's favorite drivers. Duck always tried his best to help Jacob if he needs it.

In the ninth season, Duck stood up for Jacob and Sierra when Marie and Rose openly voiced their negative opinions of Richard Hatt leaving them in charge of the North Western Railway for a week[8].

Later, when Jacob graduated from high school, Duck, along with Gordon, Rosie, Rebecca, Glynn, Murdoch, Porter, and BoCo all attended the graduation ceremony[9]. Then, at the party following the ceremony, Jacob said that Duck had taught him that "Little engines can do big things"[10].

Emma[]

Jacob and Emma were friends in high school, and started working together when Jacob was given the job of Wellsworth High School's new choir director[11]. As time went on, the two became closer and eventually became a couple, or, as some call them, Jemma.

However, later on, Emma felt Jacob was spending too much time working and not enough time with her, so she ended their relationship[12].

Now you're turning into Gordon!"
"I am not."
"And even if he was, it wouldn't be such a bad thing.

When Jacob found out Sierra was dating Jason, he was very disapproving of the relationship. He later revealed that Jason had bullied him in elementary school. Jason later apologised for this, revealing that he only bullied Jacob because he was jealous that he had a family that loved him, as both of his parents had abused him as a child. The pair then made up and are now good friends[17].

Kevin[]

Jacob was the first person Kevin could open up to, and, ultimately, was the one who saved the Poetry Club from getting worse for him. The two have been close friends since this event. Kevin later became Jacob's apprentice, and he now lets Kevin stay with him and Sierra in his home. Jacob has also been shown to treat Kevin like a little brother.

Jacob and Marie have been shown to have a strained relationship. When Richard Hatt left Jacob and Sierra in charge of the North Western Railway while he and his family went on holiday, Marie openly voiced her disapproval, referring to Jacob and Sierra as "immature children"[20]. Later, when Mr. Collins encountered financial troubles with his railway and was on the brink of closure, Jacob bought the Crystal Island Railway from him so it wouldn't have to close[23].

Mrs. Edwards[]

Mrs. Edwards helped me so much growing up and showed me that choir was something I really enjoyed. She also inspired me to sing throughout junior and senior high school as well as in university and I hope that I can be that kind of inspiration for other students.

Mrs. Edwards acts as a motherly figure to Jacob. She taught him everything he knew about singing, and inspired her to study music education at university.

Shortly after Jacob graduated from university, Mrs. Edwards, who had recently retired, was conducting interviews for her former position, alongside Principal Dean. Jacob came to be interviewed for the job, and Mrs. Edwards and Principal Dean both thought he was the perfect candidate for the job[24].

Paige[]

[Paige] was the meanest person we've ever met.

Paige and Jacob do not get along well. It has been said that the two of them are mortal enemies. However, by the thirteenth season, it seems the two have become friends, as Paige was seen at Jacob, Sierra, and Kira's graduation party[25].

In the first season of the spin-off series, Jacob and Rebecca are shown to have a strong relationship.

One day, when Rebecca found Jacob at Knapford with a look of contemplation and uncertainty on his face, she asked him if he wanted to talk about what was on his mind. He later agreed, and confided in her that he was beginning to doubt if teaching music was the right job for him, as he missed working on the railway. Rebecca told him that if teaching didn't make him happy, then he should quit at the school year's end and return to pursuing a career on the railway.
