An Old Friend is the ninth episode of the sixth season.
It was a warm summer day on the Island of Sodor. All the engines were working hard. Especially the engines on Thomas’ Branch Line.
“We have too much work” Thomas complained to Percy.
“I know, Thomas,” Percy replied, “I'm so tired, I don't know if I'm standing on my dome or on my wheels.”
Richard Hatt decided he would get a new engine to help on Thomas’ line.
The next day, Thomas and Percy were at Knapford Station when the new engine arrived. She was a pink tender engine. She was the same size as Edward and James and she had 6 driving wheels. Thomas was surprised when he saw her.
“Jennifer?!” he exclaimed.
“Thomas?!” replied Jennifer.
“Do you two know each other?” asked Percy.
“Yes, Percy, we do know each other,” said Thomas, “Jennifer and I worked together before I came to Sodor. Oh, where are my manners? Jennifer, this is my best friend, Percy.”
“It's very nice to meet you, Percy,” Jennifer said politely.
Then, Richard Hatt came out of his office.
“Ah, Jennifer, right on time,” he said, “You will work on Thomas’ branch line, but Thomas will have to show you around the Island first.”
“Yes, Sir,” said the two engines.
“Percy,” said Thomas, “Will you take Annie and Clarabel for me please?”
“Of course Thomas,” replied Percy.
“Thanks. Come on, Jennifer,” Thomas said and puffed away with Jennifer.
- This marks Jennifer's first appearance.
- Percy's line "I don't know if I'm standing on my dome or on my wheels.” is taken from the second season episode, Duck Takes Charge.
